Kevin and Julie Curfman are the owners of Firestormers, Inc. and have both worked in the business since it began. Kevin serves as president and works as general manager, engine boss, mechanic and personnel manager. Julie is the secretary/treasurer and has worked on fires in the past as a FFT1. Currently she does the books and fills in wherever she is needed during the fire season.
Besides operating Firestormers, Inc., Kevin has worked the past 30 years for the Chehalis (WA) Fire Department and has been a fire captain for the municipal structural department for the past 16 years. He also has volunteered on his local fire department. During that time Kevin has been incident command at numerous emergency incidents including both residential and commercial structure fires, wildland incidents, hazardous materials spills, motor vehicle accidents, physical rescues, flood operations and emergency medical calls.
He also serves as the president of Washington Contract Firefighters Association and instructs wildland classes for the organization. The WCFA provides low-cost training for the private wildland fire service for those working fire jobs during the fire season. They are also active in working with government agencies to promote efficient use of private resources for wildland fire suppression and other incidents.
